Capcom announced a second Open Beta Test for Monster Hunter Wilds just ahead of release, including bonus rewards, and a new monster.

Monster Hunter Wilds Open Beta Test 2 will unlock for two extended weekends in February:

  • February 6-9
  • February 13-16

The beta will be available on Steam PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. Start times are 7pm Pacific/10pm Eastern on Thursdays. The tests end on Sundays at 7pm Pacific/10pm Eastern.

The beta does not require subscriptions to PlayStation Plus or Game Pass.

Open Beta Test 2 will include all the content from the first beta test. Players can mess around with character creation, play the first Chatacabra hunt from the campaign, and explore the Windward Plains during the Doshaguma Hunt.

In addition, a new hunt has been added: Gypceros Hunt.

Gypceros is a returning monster that was conspicuously absent from the last two big games, World and Rise. The smaller monster can blind hunters using the crest on its head and club them with its thick tail. It also has a rather annoying habit of playing dead.

More new content in Beta Test 2 will be revealed later.

By participating in Beta Test 2, players can earn rewards, including a cute pendant and a bonus item pack. The item pack includes flash pods, raw meat, shock traps, and more. The item pack is in addition to the pack from the first beta test, while the pendant is a chance to unlock it again if you missed the first one.

Monster Hunter Wilds will release on February 28 on Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
