PlayStation platformer Astro Bot won big at The Game Awards 2024, winning Game of the Year and three other awards of its seven nominations. Indie card game Belataro and Persona-like JRPG Metaphor: ReFantazio won three awards each.
The 10th The Game Awards streamed this week, with over three and a half hours of awards, guest stars, musical performances, developer presenters, and big world premiere trailers.
So how did the winners line up with our few predictions? Almost perfectly! Astro Bot, Belatro, Metaphor, and Helldivers 2 were all winners, as well as Fallout for Best Adaptation on Amazon Prime, and Grant Theft Auto 6 for Most Anticipated. Our only miss was Unicorn Overlord lost to Frostpunk 2 for Best Sim/Strategy. Can’t win ’em all!

This year’s show also presented the first ever Game Changer award to Amir Satvat, for helping workers in the industry find jobs after mass layoffs.
