Square Enix and Deck Nine Games have released Life is Strange: Double Exposure on PC (Steam, Windows), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. A Switch version is coming “in the future.”

Double Exposure is a direct sequel to the original Life is Strange. Max Caulfield, no longer a teenager, is a young adult college student studying photography at the fictional Caledon University.

When Max discovers her friend Safi mysteriously murdered, she activates her special time-rewinding powers for the first time in years. But instead of rewinding, she unlocks a parallel timeline where her friend is still alive. Only by exploring both timelines can she uncover the mystery and stop the killer.

In addition to the critical Shift ability, Max can also catch glimpses and whispers of the other timeline through a new Pulse ability, learning important information.

Newcomers can catch up with Max’s story with the Life is Strange Remastered Collection.

Life is Strange is a narrative-focused, Mature-rated adventure series that stars young protagonists with extraordinary powers. Deck Nine Games took over developing the series at Square Enix after original series creator DontNod, creating Life is Strange: True Colors, and the Before the Storm prequel.

“Life is Strange: Double Exposure is the culmination of four years of love and hard work from our wonderful team,” said Felice Kuan, narrative director, Deck Nine Games. “It’s been a privilege to continue the story of such a beloved character on a bold, emotional journey. At the end of this game, we say that Max Caulfield will return. We have great plans for exciting new adventures for Max – stronger after the events of Caledon and ready to face both her past and her future.”

Life is Strange: Double Exposure is available now. It’s rated M with Mild Blood, Violence, Suggestive Themes, Strong Language, and Drug Use.
