Historia, Inc has released free-to-play multiplayer racing game Fast Penguin (technically “Faaast Penguin,” ugh) on Nintendo Switch, joining the recent release on PC (Steam, Epic Games), and PlayStation 5. The Xbox release is still coming soon.

Fast Penguin is clearly modeled after Fall Guys, with 40 customizable penguins racing through a competitive track in elimination matches.

Whereas Fall Guys is about obstacles and hazards, however, Fast Penguin is more of a traditional kart racer, and leans more toward speed (with some hazards along the way).

Penguins can slide, dodge, boost, and bounce off opponents to grab the final trophy. Players can queue in solo, or party up with up to three other players. Fast Penguin also supports cross-platform multiplayer.

The free-to-play, live service game will feature regular updates with new courses, skins, and other content. Players can customize their penguin racers, including outfits, rides, and emotes. It’s supported by microtransactions for in-game cosmetics.

And how is it like Club Penguin, beloved but defunct kid-friendly MMO, you ask accusingly?

Well, it stars cute penguins. That’s something, right?

Faaast Penguin is available now on PC, Switch, and PlayStation (and coming soon to Xbox). It’s rated E for Everyone.
