Indie developer Indoor Astronaut revealed an open beta weekend for upcoming sequel, Unrailed 2: Back on Track. PC players can download and play Unrailed 2 this weekend, September 20-23, via Steam.

The beta, like the full game, supports up to four player co-op, and features two different biomes, including the first look at the new bosses.

Unrailed 2 is the sequel to 2020’s Unrailed!, where players work quickly to lay tracks, clear paths, and gather resources to get their train from one side to another. Throughout the game, players upgrade and expand their train as they take on more challenging levels and scenarios.

The sequel adds more biomes, permanent upgrades for characters and trains, and new boss fights. Players can also build their own levels using the new level editor tool.

The timing of the beta weekend lines up with the newest Steam event, Planes, Trains, And Automobiles Fest. The Steam fest highlights truck and flight simulators and train management sims, offering discounts and some free Steam cosmetics.

The original Unrailed! is currently on sale for 75% off, but only for the next 24 hours. It’s a great game, but fantastic with friends (read our review).

Following the beta weekend, Unrailed 2 is planning to release via Steam Early Access later this year. The developers are planning to remain in early access for at least a year.
