The MIX Games, Wallride, and Limited Run Games, in collaboration with Nickelodeon, have announced the release date for retro platformer Rugrats: Adventures in Gameland. The platformer will launch on PC (Steam), PlayStation, Switch, and Xbox consoles on September 10 ($24.99).

Oh, and there’s also a super special limited edition with an actual working NES cartridge!

Adventures in Gameland stars the iconic toddlers from the infamous 90s Nickelodeon cartoon in an all-new adventure. The children are known for their imaginations, and Tommy, Chuckie and the twins must navigate through a series of make-believe levels. Each level is full of collectables, and inspired by scenes, enemies, and locations from the series, including the ice cream factory, and a haunted house.

Each of the babies has their own special abilities to help overcome challenges. Players can tackle the adventure alone, or bring a friend in two player local co-op.

In addition to the colorful HD graphics, players can toggle to a retro 8-bit pixel style, recreating the look of classic NES platformers that the game personifies.

The original Rugrats series ran for an astonishing 9 seasons from 1991-2002, making it one of the longest-running animated series, along with several feature-length films. A reboot series began airing in 2021 with a frankly off-putting, model clay-like art style.

Rugrats: Adventures in Gameland will release on September 10. A free demo is available on Steam.
