During Gamescom, 2K and Firaxis Games announced that Civilization 7 will release on February 11, 2025. Civilization 7 is launching simultaneously on PC and consoles, including PlayStation 4 and 5, Switch, and Xbox consoles.

The announcement trailer (below) also revealed the voice of the game’s narrator as Gwendoline Christie. Between her roles on Star Wars, Game of Thrones, and Sandman, she’s practically nerd royalty, and this should cement her crown.

Judging by the gameplay trailer, Civ 7 draws from another 4X historical game, Humankind, in organizing human history into specific ages and eras. As the Age advances, players will be able to select a new civilization, representing a new path forward with different bonuses.

And for the fist time in Civ-history, you can select a famous world leader separately from their civilization, letting players mix and match bonuses.

“We’re incredibly excited to take players on a new type of journey through history in Sid Meier’s Civilization 7,” stated Ed Beach, Creative Director, Firaxis Games. “With the introduction of revolutionary new features such as Ages, the ability to select leaders and civilizations independently to mix and match gameplay bonuses, a beautiful new art style and more, Sid Meier’s Civilization 7 promises to be true to our goal of being the ultimate historical strategy game.”

Civilization 7 will be available in a Standard Edition ($59.99), Deluxe Edition ($89.99), Founders Edition ($119.99), and a limited, physical Collector’s Edition ($279.99)

The Deluxe Edition includes a 5-day early access (Feb. 6), a day-one DLC pack (Tecumseh and Shawnee Pack), and two post-launch DLC packs: Crossroads of the World, and Deluxe Content.

The Founders Edition includes everything in the Deluxe Edition, plus the Founders Content Pack, and the Right to Rule Collection.

The Collector’s Edition is as stacked as its hilarious price tag conveys, including a decorative clock. I’m a big Civ fan, but it’s a bit much.

Sid Meier’s Civilization 7 will release on February 11. It has not yet been rated by the ESRB.
