Charity group Games Done Quick is gearing up for Summer Games Done Quick 2024, which begins this weekend in Minneapolis. The week-long speedrunning marathon kicks off on Sunday, June 30 and runs through the following Saturday, July 6.

Summer Games Done Quick 2024 will feature a variety of gameplays, including recent releases Animal Well, Another Crab’s Treasure, Alan Wake 2, Baldur’s Gate 3, and Elden Ring.

I’m always partial to watching older games fly by (with fun commentary), and this year’s SGDQ will feature Quest for Glory 2, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Pokémon White 2, Half-Life 2, Sunset Riders, and Lufia 2.

Races are co-op runs are also a blast. This year includes a six-player run of PowerWash Simulator (Spongebob DLC), four player co-op of Halo 3 on Legendary difficulty, four player co-op of Stardew Valley (Skull Caverns), and the return of the Kaizo Relay Race for modded Super Mario World.

But let’s face, we’re all going to be tuning into Thursday evening, where JSR’s well-trained Shiba Inu Peanut Butter will play Ken Griffey Jr Presents Major League Baseball.

In case you missed it, JSR and Peanut Butter were featured during Awesome Games Done Quick 2024 earlier this year. Peanut Butter used a modified controller to hit two different buttons in an autoscrolling game called Gyromite.

It’s absolutely captivating.

Summer Games Done Quick 2024 is raising money for Doctors Without Borders. As always, viewers are encouraged to donate while watching the talented streamers and gamers. All donations go directly to the nonprofit organization.
