Indie studio Mooncube Games recently launched Spirit City: Lofi Sessions on Steam PC ($11.99), with a 20% launch discount through April 22 ($9.59)

Spirit City is clearly inspired by the popular Lofi Girl, a YouTube channel that streams relaxing music and hip-hop beats designed for studying, sleeping, or just chilling. Its marquee stream, “lofi hip hop radio beats to relax/study to” typically boasts over 20,000 viewers.

In the game players can customize their cozy bedroom, including lighting, floor, walls, and furniture, their avatar, and their cute pets (called spirits) in a colorful anime art style.

The gameplay is designed as a distraction-free experience. It can be played in the background while enjoying the music and ambiance, such as light rain, or a crackling fireplace. Players earn XP simply by spending time in the game. Over time their Spiritographer level rises. Higher levels means more customization options, and deeper lore about Spirit City.

Spirit City includes tools to help keep you focused on your work and tasks. Use the timer and to-do lists to stay organized and improve productivity. Attract and unlock new spirits by using the right combination of soundscapes and designs.

Important fact: all spirits can be petted.

The music in Spirit City is provided by Homework Radio, another Lofi YouTube channel. The music is also friendly for streaming, in case that’s your thing.

Spirit City: Lofi Sessions is available now on Steam.
