Ravensburger has announced a limited redesign of the original Disney Villainous. Disney Villainous: Introduction to Evil includes will be available exclusively at Target beginning June 20.

Introduction to Evil will include four playable villains from the base game: Maleficent, Captain Hook, Ursula, and Prince John. The easier villains will feature “streamlined gameplay crafted to help first-time players.”

We’ve been fans of asymmetrical tabletop board game Disney Villainous for years, including the numerous expansions and spin-offs. Some villains, especially later releases, are a bit more complex. Having an easier version on hand would be a boon for introducing younger players or non-gamers.

The new box features Ursula on the cover, and includes platinum rainbow-foil packaging and a Disney100 sticker, in celebration of Disney’s 100th anniversary.

In related news, Villainous will receive its sixth expansion this fall. Disney Villainous: Filled with Fright adds Oogie Boogie, the villain from The Nightmare Before Christmas, as Villainous’ first single-character expansion. The creepy villain will arrive just in time for Halloween this October.

The series’ first single-character expansion went to spin-off Marvel Villainous, with last year’s We Are Venom. Marvel Villainous is also getting a new expansion this year with Twisted Ambitions, adding Doctor Octopus, Titania, and Kang the Conqueror.

Finally there’s youngest sibling Star Wars Villainous, which is getting its first expansion later this year in Scum and Villainy. Legendary bounty hunters Boba Fett, Cad Bane, and the Jedi-hunting Seventh Sister will join the roster.

Gen Con 2023 attendees can enjoy Villainous’ first-ever official tournament. Interested players can fill out the form to enter the raffle for a spot in the tournament. Gen Con 2023 takes place August 3 – 6 in Indianapolis, Indiana.
