Studio Wildcard has officially added the Ragnarok DLC to the Switch version of ARK: Survival Evolved. It’s arriving as a free update to all Switch players.

Ragnarok boasts one of the biggest maps in the open world dinosaur craft-em-up: 144 sq km of mountains, forests, caverns, and active volcanoes. It’s over twice as large as the original island.

Ragnarok also adds new tamable creatures, including dire polar bears, ice wyverns, and griffons.

Inspired by a more traditional high fantasy setting, Ragnarok initially started as a free, community-made mod, and released on PC in 2017.

Rangarok is the first of six free DLC updates coming to ARK: Survival Evolved on Switch. Still to come are the paid DLC expansions, Extinction, and the two-part Genesis expansion, releasing later this year. Extinction will round out the Season Pass (which also includes Scorched Earth and Aberration), while the massive Genesis expansion packs are part of the Ark Genesis Season Pass. Or you can have it all with the Ultimate Survivor Edition.

In related ARK news, the free-for-all Battle Royale spin-off, ARK: Survival of the Fittest, is coming to PlayStation and Xbox next week.

ARK: Survival Evolved is available on PC and consoles. It’s rated T for Teen.
