Even in online battle arena MOBA, you can now catch ’em all. Or some of them, anyway. Throughout the month of June, players in Pokémon Unite can participate in special Catch ‘Em Battles. During these battles, players can catch and briefly turn into wild Pokémon.

Catch ‘Em Battles take place on a modified version of Mer stadium, as a 4 on 4 quick battle. During the battle, wild Pokémon will spawn around the map at different times. Wild Pokémon include Tauros, Ludicolo, Avalugg, Araquanid, and Drednaw, as well as Legendaries such as Zapdoss and Articuno.

When you defeat one of these Pokémon, you capture them, and gain the ability to transform into that Pokémon for a limited time.

Wild Pokémon have access to basic attacks and two special moves. The Legendary Pokémon can also use special moves to weaken their opponents’ goals.

Wild Pokémon lack Unite moves, can’t teleport back to their base, and can’t score goals. But they act as a huge buffer in combat, as when you’re knocked out as a wild Pokémon, you revert back to your original form.

Catch ‘Em Battles are available as quick battles for a limited time, until June 26. Pokémon Unite is free-to-play on Switch and iOS and Android mobile devices. It’s rated E10+ with Fantasy Violence.
