Mario Kart 8 is the gift that keeps on giving for Nintendo. It began life on the Wii U as a best-seller, and has since become one of the best-selling games on the Switch with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Now, beginning this month, racing fans can purchase the Deluxe Booster Course Pass to get 48 remastered courses from previous Mario Kart games.

There’s a slight catch: the 48 courses will be released as packs of eight courses spread over six waves, through the end of 2023. Every course has been remastered and updated for Mario Kart 8.

The first wave, available now, adds the Golden Dash Cup and Lucky Cat Cup, which includes the following courses:

  • Coconut Mall (Wii)
  • Choco Mountain (N64)
  • Toad Circuit (3DS)
  • Sky Garden (GBA)
  • Shroom Ridge (NDS)
  • Tokyo Blur (Mobile)
  • Paris Promenade (Mobile)
  • Ninja Hideaway (Mobile)

The three courses from Mario Kart Tour are much more recent, but multiple paths have been opened up, allowing more options and gameplay when driving those courses.

There’s no option to buy the packs or waves separately. The Booster Course Pass is available for $24.99 on the Nintendo eShop. However, it’s also included in the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscription. In addition to multiplayer support and NES and SNES games from the NSO membership, the Expansion Pack sub also includes the Animal Crossing DLC Happy Home Paradise, as well as access to select Nintendo 64 and Sega Genesis games. A 12 month membership costs $49.99 for individuals, or $79.99 for families (up to eight accounts).
