Warner Bros. Games (as Portkey Games) and Avalanche Software released a State of Play video for upcoming action-adventure RPG, Hogwarts Legacy. The 14-min behind-the-scenes video showcases gameplay, including combat, skill progression, and class attendance.

After creating your own young witch or wizard, you’ll join Hogwarts as a fifth year student. In addition to playing catch up to your peers, your character has the ability to access powerful ancient magic throughout the school.

While you’re given free reign to explore the magical school of witchcraft and wizardry, you won’t meet many familiar faces, as the game takes place a hundred years before the events in the books and films.

During their adventure, players can level up and gain new skills, abilities, and upgrades by completing quests and challenges and defeating opponents and monsters. Combat includes dodging, counter-attacking, and combo-driven spell-slinging.

The main story involves a villainous, spell-casting goblin named Ranrok. The player will join forces with Professor Fig to investigate a possible goblin rebellion. The story features evil goblins, dark wizards, and corrupted creatures.

Hogwarts Legacy was originally due out in 2021, but was delayed into 2022. It will launch this holiday season on PC, Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox. It has not yet been rated by the ESRB.
