The first major patch and balance update hits online MOBA Pokémon Unite today, adding several character buffs and nerfs. It includes buffs for Charizard, Talonflame, and Venusaur, and nerfs to Eldegoss and Cinderace.
Over half the roster received some sort of adjustment, though shockingly the sleepy king of the meta, Snorlax, was not one of them. Gengar received a “downgrade” to Hex while buffing the other two moves that no one took, Dream Eater and Shadow Ball, in an attempt to diversify its build. Zeraora’s devastatingly powerful Unite Move, Plasma Gate, also got a much-needed nerf.
Frustratingly, though not surprisingly, none of the patch notes provide actual numbers beyond “increased” or “decreased.” It’s up to dataminers and YouTubers to discover what effects these balance changes have on each character, and on the overall meta.
