Monster Hunter fans salivate over two types of news: new games, and new updates to the latest games. This week we’re getting both, as Capcom lays out the post-launch roadmap for Monster Hunter Stories 2, which is launching this Friday, July 9th, 2021 on Nintendo Switch and Steam PC.

Title Update #1 (July 15). Adds the loyal canine companion Palamute from Monster Hunter Rise as a full monstie in Stories 2, equipped with its Canyne Kamura blade and Kamura Armor. It’s also fully ridable, just as in Rise.

Title Update #2 (August 5) adds two powerful new monsties, Hellblade Glavenus and Boltreaver Astalos, two deviant monsters who haven’t been seen since Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate. Kulve Taroth will arrive as a unique co-op quest. She won’t have any eggs to raise as your own, but you will be able to craft some fancy new equipment upon her defeat.

Title Update #3 (Early September) adds even more new monsties: Soulseer Mizutsune, Elderfrost Gammoth, and Oroshi Kirin.

Title Update #4 (Late September) adds Dreadking Rathalos and Molten Tigrex as monsties, and adds a High Difficulty version of the Kulve Taroth quest.

Title Update #5 (October) adds the king and queen of the skies, Silver Rathalos and Gold Rathian as raiseable monsties. We’ll also see another exclusive co-op quest boss monster, but Capcom isn’t announcing who they are yet.

A free trial version of Monster Hunter Stories 2 is available on the Nintendo eShop. The trial will also be available on July 9 on Steam, along with the full release of the game. Both trials allow save data to transfer to the full game.
