Genshin Impact‘s 1.6 update, Midsummer Island Adventure, is coming June 9. It will add a new playable character, and a new archipelago region that teases the upcoming third region, Inazuma.

The 1.6 update adds the next big content push to the popular open-world, free-to-play action game. Klee, Dodoco, and the Traveler will travel to a chain of islands via a ship called the Waverider. The trailer reveals new ship-based gameplay.

The archipelago will feature a series of challenges, including a boss fight with Maguu Kenki, a powerful opponent who can summon phantoms. By completing challenges, players can obtain currency and resources.

The trailer also revealed the first new character from the Inazuma region, Kaedehara Kazuha, a sword-wielding Anemo-user. Kazuha is a five-star character whose Ameno damage can provide additional effects when combined with other elements. Kazuha can also buff his teammates when they unleash their elemental attacks.

Kazuha will be featured in the story as a new Archon Quest. The wandering samurai travels with Beidou, and provides clues about how to access Inazuma.  The 1.6 update also adds to summer-themed outfits for Jean and Barbara. Jean’s must be purchased in the store, while Barbara’s can be unlocked for free by completing the Echoing Tales event.

Genshin Impact initially launched last year with two of its planned seven regions, and fans have been hungry for the next region to release. Genshin Impact is available on PC, PlayStation 4, and iOS and Android mobile devices. It’s rated T for Teen.
