During the March 2021 Monster Hunter Digital Event video, Capcom revealed new trailers and details on Monster Hunter Rise and Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin. Notably, we now have a release date for Monster Hunter Stories 2: July 9.

The new trailer for Monster Hunter Stories 2 reveals the companion you’ll be hatching early in the story: Razewing Rathalos, a rare version of the classic Rathalos monster with black wings. Navirou the Felyne hero returns to the story, and Capcom teased cooperative multiplayer quests. More details will be revealed in the coming months.

Monster Hunter Stories is a Pokémon-like spin-off series in which you tame and ride monsters as much as fighting them. The first game released in 2016 on the Nintendo 3DS (Read our review).

Capcom also revealed more details for the next main game in the series, Monster Hunter Rise, including the five hunting grounds: Shrine Ruins, Flooded Forest, Sandy Plains, Frost Islands, and Lava Caverns.

Other announced features including Wirebug Switch Skills for each weapon, dynamic difficulty scaling for number of players, and the Hunter Connect tag for improved online match-making.

The Monster Hunter Rise demo, which was limited to the month of January, is returning to the Nintendo eShop on March 11. It will include the same content as before, plus a late game advanced quest as you take on the signature villain, Magnamalo.

If you have a Monster Hunter Rise save file, you can unlock the Kamura Garb layered unique costume in Monster Hunter Stories 2.

And even though Monster Hunter Rise isn’t out yet, Capcom revealed the first free content update arriving at the end of April: the new monster Chameleos, higher HR cap, and other new monsters and features.

Monster Hunter Rise is out March 26, and is rated T for Teen. The Deluxe Edition includes extra armor DLC along with poses and haircuts. Pre-order to receive layered armor and talisman for your Palamute and Palico companions.

Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin is out July 9, and is rated E10+. The Deluxe Edition includes Razewing layered armor, and outfits for Ena and Navirou. Pre-order to reive the Kamura Maiden Outfit for Ena.
