During last year’s PlayStation Event we were blown away by the trailer for Kena: Bridge of Spirits, which looked more like a Pixar film than an indie video game. Developer Ember Labs has finally given us a release date for the action-adventure game: August 24, on PC (Epic Games Store), PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. You can salivate over another gorgeous new trailer above.
Kena is a young Spirit Guide who sets out to restore an ancient village. She’s armed with a magical staff that allows her to control tiny cute creatures called Rot – not unlike the Pikmin series. The Rot can be used to move objects, distract enemies, and transform into different shapes. They can even join Kena in battle against corrupted spirits, though Kena must weaken enemies first with her own attacks.
“We’re overwhelmed by and grateful for the enthusiasm surrounding Kena: Bridge of Spirits, and we can’t wait to share our game with everyone this August,” said Josh Grier, COO, Ember Lab. “We’re taking the next few months to further polish and optimize for the best possible game. It’s been quite an experience completing our first title during the pandemic. We are super excited to reveal the latest trailer and announce the launch date.”
Kena: Bridge of Spirits will launch in Standard ($39.99) and Deluxe Digital Editions ($49.99). The Deluxe Digital Edition includes a digital soundtrack and several in-game goodies, such as a golden skin for the Rot. All pre-orders will receive a pack of Celebration Hats to customize their Rot companions, because of course they can wear hats!
Kena: Bridge of Spirits will release on August 24, exclusively on the Epic Games Store and PlayStation. It has not yet been rated by the ESRB.
