Apex Legends Season 4: Assimilation is launching Feb. 4 (also its one year anniversary), and will add a new weapon, new battle pass, and a new champion. But during the latest Season 4 trailer, Up Close and Personal, we were treated to a rather shocking twist.
**SPOILERS**
Developer Respawn had been teasing the new champion as Jimmie “Forge” McCormick, a champion MMA fighter with a cybernetic arm. However, at the end of the video interview, Forge is seemingly brutally murdered by a robotic assassin. As if to confirm Forge’s elimination, his picture on the Season 4 website is now grayed out, with RIP written below it.
Respawn also confirmed Forge’s death (at least for now) via the in-universe twitter account, Outlands Television. RIP Jimmie!
We know we are getting a new champion in Season 4, and all signs point to the assassin in the video taking Forge’s place. If you’ve been following the Apex Legends rumor mill in the last few months, it may not be that shocking of a twist thanks to the leaks of the evil assassin Revenant. Respawn has not yet confirmed Revenant as the replacement.
In addition to the last-minute champion switcheroo, Season 4 will feature a new bolt-action sniper rifle called Sentinel, Series 3 of Ranked Mode, and a 100-item seasonal Battle Pass, including new legendary skins.
Apex Legends Season 4 will kick off on Feb. 4. It’s available on PC (Origin), PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, and rated T for Teen.
