We had to check our calendars when we saw the surprise announcement for StarCraft Cartooned. StarCraft Cartooned is a paid DLC pack for StarCraft Remastered. It changes the entire game, from the structures to units and menus, into heavily exaggerated, kiddie cartoons. It’s available now for $9.99.

The animated style is done by Carbot Animations. Carbot has long been associated with Blizzard Entertainment’s games, such as StarCraft, Overwatch, and Heroes of the Storm. They’ve been making popular YouTube videos parodying Blizzard games for years, and currently enjoy a subscription base of over 1 million fans.

StarCraft Cartooned acts as a total conversion mod once purchased, with the ability to enable the cartoon skin over every unit, structure, and portrait (voices and text remain the same). The DLC mod is fully compatible with online gameplay, both competitive and casual. Your opponents don’t need to own Cartooned for you to play with them, either. Perhaps getting stomped by an early game zerg rush feels less painful when they’re so darn adorable.

StarCraft Cartooned is available now, and requires StarCraft Remastered. In our review we called it “a very faithful HD update to one of the best strategy games ever created.” StarCraft Remastered is rated T for Teen.
