XSeed Games have announced the remake of Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town is coming to North America on Nintendo Switch. The specific release date has not been revealed, but it’s coming to Japan on October 17.

Friends of Mineral Town is a remake of the original farming sim, which released on the Game Boy Advance back in 2003 as Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town.. Like most farming sim games, players build their farm, grow crops, raise animals, and build relationships with friends and neighbors.

The Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons series has been regulated to handheld releases for the last decade, launching on the Nintendo DS, Sony PSP, and Nintendo 3DS in recent years. The last major release in the series was Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns in 2017 on Nintendo 3DS.

The quality of each game in the prolific series has had its ups and downs, but many of the early titles (such as Harvest Mon 64) are very highly regarded, and paved the way for many popular indie farming sims such as Stardew Valley.

No details on updates or changes from the original have been announced, other than the obvious graphical facelift from the GBA original. Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town has not been rated by the ESRB, but previous games in the series have received an E10+ rating.
