We’ve been patiently waiting for the highly anticipated Final Fantasy 7 Remake ever since it was first revealed during the Playstation conference at E3 2015. Now during E3 2019, Square Enix showcased a more detailed gameplay trailer, as well as an official release date for the first episode: March 3, 2020 on PlayStation 4.

The new trailer (above) showcased the hybrid battle system. The modernized battle system merges real time hack and slash with the ability to slow time to issue commands and attacks.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake is still planned as an episodic release, with the March 3 release covering the opening events of the game in the city of Midgar. Square Enix has admitted they have not determined how many episodes they will create.

Also announced during E3 2019 were the special editions, which are all now available for pre-order. The Deluxe Edition includes an art book, mini-soundtrack CD, Summon Materia Cactuar DLC, and a Sephiroth Steelbook case.
