Psyonix has announced an 80s themed event for multiplayer sports-racing game Rocket League. The Radical Summer event will last nine weeks and include new limited game modes and new cards based on classic 80s films and TV shows. Watch the 80s-tastic trailer above.

The event is divided up into three different waves, each wave lasting three weeks and focusing on a different 80s theme.

The first wave is 80s Blockbusters (June 10 – July 1). The first wave of the Radical Summer event will launch the new Ghostbusters Ecto-1 Car Pack, which adds the famous car as well as several customization options like wheels, banner, and border. The limited game mode is Ghost Hunt, a 3v3 mode where players use the Ghostbusters proton stream to grab and carry the ball. Other 80s franchises will be available in the Radical Summer Event store, including Back to the Future and Karate Kid.

The second wave is 80s Culture (July 1 to July 22). The limited game mode is Spike Rush. Spike Rush is a 3v3 mode where everyone has the Spike power-up from Rumble Mode. I’m going to hazard a guess that this mode (and the next one) is a reference to the infamous volleyball scene from Top Gun.

The third wave is 80s Television (July 22 to August 12). The Knight Rider Car Pack will finally be available, as well as additional TV-themed items in the Event store. The limited game mode is Beach Ball, a 2v2 match featuring a large ball with low gravity.

Rocket League is available on PC, PlayStation 4, Switch, and Xbox One. Rocket League is rated E for Everyone.
