Frostpunk was one of our favorite PC games of last year (read our review). Developer 11 bit studios has announced that Frostpunk: Console Edition is coming to Xbox One and PlayStation 4 later this summer.

“We don’t want to reveal the exact release date yet, but I can say that the game should be out in the summer,” said Kuba Stokalski, lead designer, 11 bit studios.

Frostpunk is a city building game that’s as focused on survival rather than prosperity. The world is blanketed in an extinction-level ice storm. Salvation lies in geothermic reactors that produce heat. Heat is the lifeblood of your burgeoning city as you gather coal, metal, and wood, and hunt for the few animals remaining.

You’ll also be tasked with running your society. Often you’ll need to choose harsh policies, such as child labor or 24 hour shifts, to keep your people alive. Anecdotal missions will pop up, forcing you to make difficult choices, and balancing your people’s morale with the city’s infrastructure. Ultimately your choices will lead you down paths of either a religious zealot or totalitarian dictator.

Frostpunk: Console Edition will include all the previously released free updates to the PC version. That includes the Fall of Winterhome scenario and additional post-launch tweaks and changes. It’s rated M for Mature.
