On its 10th year anniversary Square Enix announced The Last Remnant is getting a remastered released for PlayStation 4. The Last Remnant Remastered will arrive digitally on the PlayStation Store on December 6.

The Last Remnant originally launched in 2008 as an Xbox 360 exclusive. It was ported to PC in 2009. The world features the typical war-torn anime setting of a Japanese RPG, and its gameplay, characters, and narrative structure are very similar to the Final Fantasy series.

The story is centered on Remnants, ancient and powerful artifacts which grant their attuned users great magical power and devastation.

The Last Remnant was the first Square Enix RPG to use the Unreal Engine, and it suffered from notable graphical glitches and framerate issues (though the PC port improved it somewhat). Ultimately it received mixed reviews upon release, and was never ported to PlayStation 3.

The Last Remnant Remastered will use the superior and modern Unreal Engine 4 to improve the graphics while keeping the same story and gameplay.

The Last Remnant Remastered is coming exclusively to PlayStation 4 in digital form on December 6, for $19.99. It’s rated M for Mature for Blood, Language, Suggestive Themes, and Violence.
