During the PlayStation E3 2018 conference a lengthy gameplay demo was shown for Marvel’s Spider-Man, developed by Insomniac Games. The demo centered around an explosive prison breakout, featuring many of Spider-Man’s biggest foes. Marvel’s Spider-Man is out September 7 as a PlayStation 4 exclusive.

The breakout scenario at the Raft, Marvel’s frequently used maximum security prison for super villains, serves as an important moment in the game. Spidey discovers many past foes, such as Vulture, Rhino, and Shocker, are working together, and with the help of fancy new suits.

The game’s combo-driven, quick-paced, reactionary combat system looks reminiscent of the Batman Arkham games, but taking full advantage of Spider-Man’s speed and mobility.

Insomniac Games’ take on Spider-Man is an older, more established super hero who has been fighting crime in New York City for years. Yet he’s unprepared when forced to battle a team-up of super villains, including a mysterious sixth villain who is teased but not shown at the end of the demo.

A demo of Spider-Man is playable at E3 2018 this week, including a boss battle with Shocker. Marvel’s Spider-Man will swing onto PlayStation 4 consoles on September 7.
