One of my favorite games from last year is getting a Switch release. A recent update from indie developer Airship Syndicate has given their debut RPG Battle Chasers: Nightwar an official release date for the Nintendo Switch: May 15.

Battle Chasers: Nightwar combines dungeon crawling with JRPG-style turn-based combat and character progression. It most resembles a classic 90s JRPG. The world, characters, and art is based on comic artist Joe Madureira’s Battle Chasers comics from the late 90s. Madureira later co-founded Vigil Games, helping produce the Darksiders series, before co-founding Airship Syndicate.

Airship Syndicate went to Kickstarter to fund their debut game. The campaign raised over $800,000 in 2015.

Battle Chasers: Nightwar launched on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 in October last year. It was well-received and has been continually updated in the months since, fixing bugs and smoothing out the harsh leveling curve and latter half difficulty.

Battle Chasers: Nightwar will finally arrive on Switch on May 15, in both digital and retail options. It’s been rated T for Teen with Alcohol, Blood and Gore, Fantasy Violence, Mild Language, and Suggestive Themes.
