Today, Penny Arcade representatives revealed that this year’s PAX West keynote speaker will be Luke Smith. Those in the gaming community may know Smith as the game director of the upcoming Destiny 2. Smith has been with Bungie since 2007 and has worked on other titles like Halo: Reach and Destiny. His opening “Storytime” address will kick off PAX West 2017 which runs from September 1st to the 4th.
Prior to joining Bungie, Luke Smith worked in journalism, serving as news editor for 1Up.com. As a journalist, Smith critiqued games in the Halo series only to wind up acting as a systems designer for Halo: Reach two years later. Penny Arcade and PAX co-founder Tycho Brahe will be facilitating the keynote address and asking Smith questions after his talk.
The full panel schedule has also been released and includes presentations by developers like Gearbox Software, Monolith Soft, and CD Projekt RED. Fans can check out the complete lineup here. Unfortunately, badges for PAX West 2017 are sold out, but those not in attendance can watch the panels live on Twitch.
The exhibition hall will feature the usual supply of popular, AAA publishers. Sony, Bethesda, Microsoft, Nintendo, and Bandai Namco are among those included in the lineup. The full list will be available through the Guidebook App later today.
