Local cooperative (and competitive) cooking arcade game Overcooked is coming to the Nintendo Switch eShop later this week. Publisher Team17 and indie developer Ghost Town Games announced that Overcooked will be packaged in a Special Edition for Nintendo Switch when it launches on July 27.
Overcooked stars a humorous story mode where an evil creature invades the Onion Kingdom. It’s up to your heroes to journey through increasingly dangerous kitchens to satisfy its insatiable hunger. The action can be enjoyed solo as well as cooperatively with up to four players. Several competitive levels are also available for two to four players to pit their cooking skills against each other.
Overcooked: Special Edition includes the base game and The Lost Morsel and Festive Seasoning DLC. Festive Seasoning was a free DLC update that arrived earlier this year, while The Lost Morsel was a paid DLC pack. Thus the Special Edition is the same thing as the Gourmet Edition that’s available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
That includes 44 levels that can be played solo or with up to four players locally, as well as nine competitive levels. You can choose between a variety of chefs, including dinosaurs, robots, and dogs, 22 total different choices altogether.
Overcooked launched last fall to positive reviews, and was praised for its humorous style and effective local co-op gameplay. Earlier this month Overcooked received the Best British Game and Best Family Game awards from the British Academy Games Awards, an extension of the prestigious British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA).
Overcooked: Special Edition will be available to download in the Nintendo Switch eShop on July 27 for $19.99.
