Obsidian Entertainment has announced Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire, an upcoming sequel to their successful RPG Pillars of Eternity. Like the original game, Pillars of Eternity II is being crowdfunded on Fig, a site that specifically caters to video game projects.
While the sequel is already in the works, Obsidian hopes to put the extra money towards adding multiclassing and French and German localization. The game has already reached its $1.1 million goal in about a day. But there are still many perks and prizes to be gained by fans who’d still like to chip in to making the game even better. Fig subscribers can get $5 of credit towards any Pillars of Eternity II bundle over $29.
Deadfire’s story centers on Eothas, the god of light and rebirth. Previously thought to be dead, Eothas is actually possessing the stone titan buried beneath the player character’s keep. Eothas breaks free, leaving the keep in ruins. Gravely injured, the player sets out on a quest to track down Eothas and discover how these events have come to pass. The journey brings them to the Deadfire Archipelago, which is a collection of islands with various climates. Players will get to explore both uncharted lands as well as those already inhabited and settled.
