Square Enix announced today that Legendary Digital Studios will be producing a digitally distributed live action series based on Life Is Strange. The Digital Studios branch of Legendary isn’t new to adapting games to live action series. They’ve already made a film based on Dead Rising.

“Life is Strange is one of those rare properties that combines incredibly developed characters and storylines with deeply engaging gameplay,” said Greg Siegel, Senior Vice President of Development and Production for Legendary Digital Studios. in an official release. “It lends itself perfectly to live-action imaginings. We couldn’t be more excited to partner with Square Enix, DONTNOD Entertainment and dj2 to bring the world of Arcadia Bay to life in an exciting new way.”

Life Is Strange is about a high school student who finds she can rewind time and change the events of her life. She joins up with a friend to investigate the disappearance of another student. The game offers a very realistic view of modern teenage life, including drugs and sex. The first episode of the game is available as a free download now.

This marks the second recent foray into other media for Square Enix. The company announced earlier this year that an animated film based on Final Fantasy XV is in the works. Kingsglaive Final Fantasy XV will be available digitally on August 30. No release date is set for the Life Is Strange series.
