In 2009, Pop Cap released a PC game called Plants vs. Zombies. It was weird. It was funny. And everyone, including hardcore gaming critics, loved it. Since that first release the franchise has expanded to include a sequel for mobile platforms and the multiplayer console games Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare and Garden Warfare 2. Now Plants vs. Zombies is 7 years old, and you can get some cool new stuff in Plants vs. Zombies 2: It’s About Time.

A special event called Birthdayz has already started and will run until May 12. The event is part of the existing daily “Pinata Party” events. You can earn some of the new stuff by beating the event each day. Be warned, these events are usually challenging and you only get one chance for free. Subsequent chances cost 1,000 coins (the free in-game currency)

Some of the stuff you can get during the event includes:

  • The return of premium plant Jack O’ Lantern
  • Eight birthday-themed zombies
  • Five limited-time themed collectible plant costumes

You can also win coins and gems (the premium currency) by beating the event boards. Plants vs. Zombies 2 is only available on mobile platforms.
