It’s official: The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess is getting an HD remake for the Wii U. Twilight Princess HD, previously only rumored, is coming out on March 4, 2016 for Nintendo Wii U. Plus, it’s going to come bundled with a brand-new amiibo: Wolf Link.
Reggie Fils-Aimé, president of Nintendo of America, made the announcement during today’s Nintendo Direct presentation. He teased that this remake will include more than fancy new visuals. However, we didn’t get any details about what new features we’ll be seeing with the GamePad, or how precisely the amiibo will work. He did mention, however, that the amiibo will be compatible with the brand-new Zelda for Wii U, about which we know almost nothing. Not even a name. Sigh.
We do know that the Toon Link, Link, Zelda, Shiek, and Ganondorf amiibos will also be compatible with the game.
You can preorder the game right now. If you preorder, Nintendo will also give you a free copy of the soundtrack.
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess is the only Zelda game to earn a T for Teen rating from the ESRB for animated blood and fantasy violence. It was released simultaneously for the GameCube and the Wii back in 2006.
Following the announcement, Reggie teased us with an extremely short clip from The Legend of Zelda for Wii U.
