Disney Interactive has launched two expansion games for Disney Infinity 3.0: Toy Box Takeover and Toy Box Speedway. They cost $19.99 each.
Toy Box Takeover is an entirely new action-adventure game that uses Disney Infinity 3.0 as a base. Check out the plot description:
“When Syndrome gets his hands on Merlin’s magic wand, it’s up to the player to stop him. Using their favorite characters in Disney Infinity, they must battle across multiple worlds, such as Pirates of the Caribbean, Marvel’s Upper Manhattan, The Old West, or The Incredibles Volcano Lair to defeat the bad guys before they ruin the Toy Box forever. Family and friends can play together via two-player local co-op or four-player online.”
Toy Box Speedway, as you may have guessed, is a kart-racing game. It comes with nine levels: Sugar Rush (“Wreck It Ralph”), Frozen, Tatooine (“Star Wars”), San Fransokyo (“Big Hero 6”), Agrabah (“Aladdin”), Monsters Inc., Halloween Town (“Nightmare Before Christmas”), Gravity Falls, and Knowhere (“Guardians of the Galaxy”). Much like Mario Kart, Toy Box Speedway lets you play in Race mode, Time Trial mode, and Combat mode.
All of your figurines and Power Discs from Disney Infinity 1.0 and 2.0 are compatible with Disney Infinity 3.0 (woo!), so there are tons of potential character combinations available—if you are willing to spend the money.
Earlier we learned more details about Marvel Battlegrounds, which is coming out in 2016. That expansion will bring four-player gameplay to the Disney Infinity franchise for the first time.
