Today Square Enix announced that Final Fantasy Explorers is a new game exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS. The game supports solo play or cooperative play with up to three players. Players will explore dungeons and look for crystals to collect while battling classic Final Fantasy monsters and enemies. There will be over 20 jobs to master, some old and some new, including white mage, black mage, monk, and knight. Players will also be able to call upon Eidolons.

Square Enix provided a description of the story in a press release this morning:

“The world is on the brink of war over its reserves of crystals, the planet’s chief source of power. Players must band together to form an elite squad of Explorers on an island rich in crystals, braving hordes of monsters in hopes of conquering a newly discovered Grand Crystal – every Explorer’s dream.”

Final Fantasy Explorers will be available January 26, 2016, for Nintendo 3DS. It is not yet rated.
