Get Free and Discounted Games with the GOG Halloween Sale

Posted by | News, PC | No Comments

Let the season of big game sales begin! Digital PC store GOG has kicked off their annual Halloween Sale today. It’s not just horror games either. Over 200 games are on sale, between 33% and 90% off. The Halloween Sale ends November 2.

The big promo for this sale is a free game. If you spend at least $15 during the sale, you’ll receive Tales from the Borderlands for free. That’s also not a horror game, but it is a fantastic episodic adventure series by Telltale Games, starring the wacky characters and world of Borderlands.

As is typical with GOG sales, you can purchase digital games in bundles to receive bigger discounts. Purchasing The Walking Dead Bundle, for example, grants all five episodic Walking Dead games by TellTale for 80% off, or $18.95. Otherwise each individual game is 70% off, except the newer third season, A New Frontier, which is 55% off.

Other bundle deals include the LEGO Bundle, Sherlock Holmes Bundle, and a D&D Bundle of ‘gold box’ classics. These are all ‘completion bundles.’ That means if you already own some of the games in the bundle, you’ll still get the deeper discount for purchasing the rest at an even cheaper price.

Here are some individual highlights of the GOG Halloween Sale:

  • Hotline Miami $1.99 (80% off)
  • Hotline Miami 2 $3.79 (75% off)
  • Dead Space $3.99 (80% off)
  • Saints Row IV: Game of the Century Edition $3.99 (80% off)
  • Darkest Dungeon $9.99 (60% off)
  • Outlast $2.99 (85% off)
  • Day of the Tentacle Remastered $5.09 (66% off)
  • SOMA $7.49 (75% off)

If you use both Steam and GOG for PC gaming, GOG Connect lets you add your Steam purchases into your GOG library for DRM-free, offline gaming goodness. It’s only available for specific, select games, and they usually trickle in slowly. The 2017 Halloween Sale opens up a whopping 30 games to GOG Connect. The mostly include horror games such as the Amnesia games and Walking Dead series.

To use GOG Connect you’ll need to sign in with your Steam account and make sure your settings are set to Public.

The GOG Halloween Sale ends November 2. If you believe the (usually correct) rumors, the Steam Halloween Sale should be starting soon as well.

I can still remember the first time my sister asked me to play games.

On any random night, I could be found in my room playing whatever game had caught my attention. That night, it was Halo. Too busy blowing up aliens and saving the universe, I didn’t notice that my sister had snuck into my room. She was prone to exploring everywhere, as is any young child, but usually knew to not watch when violent games were being played. Despite my warnings, however, she watched, and with that began her ever-growing fascination with video games. Read More
