Story & Themes
Disney Speedstorm is a Mario Kart-like racing game featuring Disney (and Pixar) characters and worlds. Each racer has different stats, classes, and special abilities, as well as stat-boosting crew members.
As in Mario Kart, players race around tracks, grabbing and deploying power-ups, drifting around corners, and bumping into other racers.
Speedstorm features single player and multiplayer game modes, many of which change and update through each season, including Season Tour, Limited Time Events, and ranked multiplayer.
Seasons last about two months and are typically themed around a single Disney franchise, such as Frozen, Aladdin, and Toy Story, adding new racers, tracks, and crew members, as well as modes and tours to help earn the new content.
Difficulty
When playing offline local freeplay, CPU racers can be given one of five different difficulty levels, and overall speed can be changed from three different levels (similar to Mario Kart's 100cc, 150cc, etc).
Heads Up!
Violence Very mild cartoon violence of characters bouncing off each other, or swiping at one another.
Consumerism As a free-to-play title, Disney Speedstorm is primarily monetized through the optional Golden Pass, akin to Fortnite's Battle Pass. The Golden Pass offers free and premium awards that are unlocked through progress, including racers (broken up into shards), skins, crew members, and coins, which are spent for random loot boxes. Real money can also be used to purchase Tokens, which can purchase racers and cosmetics directly.
