Story & Themes
The flat, pixelated world of Aerthlings has recently been destroyed by invading Moonling monsters. Beginning in only a small slice of land, players must restore the world by defeating enemies and gathering resources and unlocking new areas, expanding the world piece by piece. A few NPCs help guide you early on, but for the most part, the game is open-ended, letting players gather and explore at their own pace.
Players can also craft furniture and decorate their world.
As a toys-to-life game, Aerthlings figures can be scanned into the game, unlocking the digital versions. The physical figure can then be safely traded away, making it even more powerful in-game. The physical figures are tiny, doubling as keychain accessories with their included lanyards. They are only available as mystery boxes, meaning the players don't know which figure they'll receive until opening the package.
Players can also unlock and purchase digital-only figures.
The entire game can also be played for free thanks to free starting figures.
Difficulty
The 3D mobile game uses a virtual joystick, which can be tricky for newcomers.
Heads Up!
Violence Monsters battle each other with simple melee and ranged attacks. Defeated enemies poof away, while defeated Aerthlings hibernate as cubes before regenerating.
Consumerism As a free mobile game, Aerthlings doesn't push real-money purchases — though they're certainly an option for purchasing digital figures or skins. If players want to use more than the starter Figs, however, they'll need to either purchase a digital character, or purchase random mystery boxes that contain physical Figs.
