To celebrate tabletop board game Clank’s 10th anniversary, Dire Wolf Digital announced a new Clank Master Thief Edition. The Master Thief Edition will make its early release debut at this year’s Gen Con, July 30 – August 2 at Indianapolis, Indiana.

Clank Master Thief Edition updates the classic dungeon crawling (and racing!) board game with an updated map board with a new illustration. The Rage Track, Health Tracks, and Market areas have been separated into their boards, leaving more room for the dungeon map. Double-thick cardboard with inset squares now properly hold all the cube trackers.

Clank is a deckbuilder where players race to explore a dragon’s lair to grab the best loot. Beginning with a simple deck, players play cards to move, battle monsters, and gain gold to purchase stronger cards, while also making noise and avoiding the wrath of the dragon.

The goal is to grab the best loot and make it out alive, with the highest score possible.

In addition to a visual boost, the Master Thief Edition provides several gameplay updates, including nastier Ghosts, an improved endgame, and various card balances.

The 10th anniversary edition also includes a mini-expansion, Wandering Monsters. This optional expansion adds new cards and mechanics that relate to the monsters found along the routes of the dungeon, which are now marked with different icons and colors.

I’m a big fan of the entire Clank series, including Clank in Space, Clank Legacy, and the recent Clank Catacombs, which features a buildable dungeon! They make excellent family games, if your kids (and friends!) are okay with occasionally getting killed off and scoring zero points.

The original Clank is also available as a digital game on Steam PC and mobile devices.
