Epic Games has introduced new Time Limit Controls and a Time Reports feature for Fortnite, giving parents the tools to monitor and limit their child’s playtime with one of the most popular games for kids and teens.

The new controls are accessible via the Parental Controls section of the Fortnite main menu, as well as on the Epic Account Portal website. By signing into the child’s account, parents can set up time limits, as well as specific time windows they’re allowed to play within each day.

With time limits set, your child will see an in-game alert when they have 30 minutes remaining. As an option, parents can allows their child to request additional time, which sends an email with a link.

Note that time limits are tied to the account, not the platform. As long as your child is using the same account for PC, mobile, and console, the time limits will remain in place.

We do time limits and time-requests already for iPhone gaming with our oldest gamer, and it works pretty well for managing screen time.

Parents and guardians can also opt-in to receive weekly Time Report emails, and access daily breakdowns of time spent in Fortnite within the Epic Account Portal.

Fortnite has become a Roblox-like hub of social gaming, and includes LEGO Fortnite, Rocket Racing, and the main competitive Battle Royale mode. The time limits also apply to Unreal Engine for Fortnite, the standalone editor for Fortnite Creative mode.

Fortnite is available on PC, Mac, PlayStation, Switch, Xbox, and mobile platforms. It’s rated T for Teen.
