With millions of copies sold, hundreds of thousands of concurrent players, and several awards and nominations, Baldur’s Gate 3 has been a huge success for RPGs and Larian Studios.
They’ve long proven they can handle awesome RPGs. Next up: fancy physical editions!
Larian has announced a physical Deluxe Edition for Baldur’s Gate 3 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, dropping in Q1 2024 ($79.99).
Baldur’s Gate 3: Deluxe Edition includes the following:
- Actual game discs (three for Xbox, two for PS5, one for PC)
- Deluxe Edition Box
- Soundtrack on three CDs
- Cloth world map
- Two fabric patches
- Thirty-two stickers
- Mind Flayer art poster
It also includes all the goodies in the Digital Deluxe edition, including digital artbook, soundtrack, and character sheets.
“This experiment is what we feel the future of physical media looks like, at least for us at Larian,” said Michael Douse, Director of Publishing, Larian. “We spent the last few months learning how to do it from scratch and put everything we learned from the Collector’s Edition into what we hope is unbeatable value for what we’re considering our standard physical version going forward. If it works out, we’ll keep doing it this way. We understand the value of physical media, and while there are clearly increasingly significant challenges when it comes to the archiving of games, we truly believe it’s worth experimenting, even if it means a f***-ton of discs.”
Though only sold on the Larian Studios official store, the Deluxe Edition will not be limited, and will be restocked.
Baldur’s Gate 3 is currently available on PC, Mac, and PlayStation 5. The Xbox version is expected to release this December. It’s rated M for Mature.
