Modus Games, along with Colombian developers Dreams Uncorporated and SYCK, have released RPG Cris Tales on PC (Steam, Epic Games Store, GOG), PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Switch, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S ($39.99).

Cris Tales is described as a love letter to JRPGs, and cites several classic from the 1990s, including Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy VI, as well as more recent JRPGs such as Bravely Default and Persona 5.

Protagonist Crisbell has the ability to slip between different time periods, including in the middle of combat encounters. She’ll have to use these time-bending powers, as well as the powers of friendship, to defeat the evil empress and save the world. Hey, this is an RPG after all!

The indie RPG promises over 20 hours of gameplay in striking hand-drawn art and animation. Early critical reviews have been fairly positive, with an average 76% rating according to gaming aggregate website OpenCritic.

Cris Tales is rated T for Teen, with Fantasy Violence and Mild Language. It’s available now.
