The Entertainment Software Association has confirmed that E3 2021 will be a virtual-only event, due the on ongoing global pandemic. This is the second year the event has been relegated to online-only. E3 2021 will take place June 12 to June 15, and will be free to stream.
The ESA has confirmed the following game publishers will showcase upcoming games and news during the virtual event: Nintendo, Xbox, Capcom, Konami, Ubisoft, Take-Two Interactive, Warner Bros. Games, Koch Media, and more. The four-day stream will include live press conferences and demo streams.
“For more than two decades, E3 has been the premier venue to showcase the best that the video game industry has to offer, while uniting the world through games,” said Stanley Pierre-Louis, President & CEO, ESA. “We are evolving this year’s E3 into a more inclusive event, but will still look to excite the fans with major reveals and insider opportunities that make this event the indispensable center stage for video games.”
The ESA is confident that E3 2022 will return to a regular in-person event, but it remains to be seen how that will look after two years of virtual events, and years more of dwindling enthusiasm for the once marquee gaming event.
E3 2021 will be free, but requires registration at the official website. Registration opens up later this spring. E3 2021 begins June 12.
