Today Nintendo hosted a Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase. In contrast to larger Nintendo Direct’s, there wasn’t a lot of news or announcements – with two major exceptions. An HD remaster of Shin Megami Tensei 3 and new game Shin Megami Tensei 5 are coming to Nintendo Switch in 2021.

Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne HD Remaster is a modern HD upgrade to 2004’s PlayStation 2 RPG (known in the US as Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne). Like the rest of the series, SMT3 is a mature story about apocalyptic cults and monstrous demons that can be recruited and trained. It’s launching Spring 2021 and rated M for Mature.

Shin Megami Tensei 5 will be the latest entry in the nearly three-decade old series. It’s releasing around the world exclusively on Switch next year.

The Nintendo Direct Mini was the first in a new series of Partner Showcase’s, highlighting games coming to Switch from 3rd party developers and publishers.

“With this new Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase, we are delighted to be shining a spotlight on great games from our development and publishing partners,” said Steve Singer, Nintendo of America’s Senior Vice President of Publisher and Developer Relations. “With multiple showcases this year, we can continue highlighting the breadth of games and the variety of experiences all types of players can get on Nintendo Switch.”
