With firm social distancing guidelines still in effect in most states in the US, Games Done Quick has announced that their next charity event, Summer Games Done Quick (SGDQ) 2020, will take place entirely online, August 16-23.
The event was formerly hosted in Bloomington, MN, but the physical event has officially been canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. SGDQ 2020 will stream on the official twitch channel, but speedrunners will be participating from their own homes.
“We would like to thank the community for its patience while we were figuring out the best way to proceed with Summer Games Done Quick 2020,” said Kasumi Yogi, Director of Marketing and Business Development, Games Done Quick. “We’re excited to continue showcasing some of the most talented speedrunners in the world while observing best practices to keep everyone safe in the midst of a global pandemic.”
SGDQ features talented speedrunners playing through games in order to raise money for charity. SGDQ 2020’s charity is Doctors Without Borders. A hundred percent of all donations made during the event will go to the non-profit international health organization.

For the last decade Games Done Quick has raised over $26 million for charities around the world, while providing hundreds of hours of entertainment. Summer Games Done Quick 2020 will take place August 16-23.
