Nintendo has announced a new game in the Paper Mario RPG-platforming series, and the first on the Switch. Paper Mario: The Origami King will launch exclusively on Nintendo Switch on July 17, for $59.99 in retail and digital versions. Watch the announcement trailer above.

In The Origami King, a new ruler of the Origami Kingdom, King Olly, has plans to fold the entire world, starting with Princess Peach and her castle. Thankfully Mario has a number of new features and abilities to combat the new folded threats, including the ability to stretch and pull certain spots in the world to solve puzzles and reveal hidden secrets. Mario can also enlist the help of several allies, including Olly’s friendly sister Olivia, and even Bowser himself.

The Origami King also features a new ring-based battle system. With a bit of puzzle-solving, Mario can line up enemies for maximum damage during turn-based battles.

“Paper Mario: The Origami King delivers a grand new adventure on Nintendo Switch for players to wrap themselves up in,” said Nick Chavez, Senior VP, Nintendo of America. “This game marks the debut of the Paper Mario series on Nintendo Switch, expanding the vast library of games with another standout entry in a beloved franchise.”

The Paper Mario series began back in 2000 on the Nintendo 64, originally as a spin-off of Super Mario RPG. The latest game in the series was Paper Mario: Color Splash in 2016 on the Wii U.

Paper Mario: The Origami King will launch on July 17. It’s rated E for Everyone.
