With many gamers around the world stuck at home due to the global pandemic, publisher Electronic Arts is hosting live streams, tournaments, and other events throughout the month of April, including Madden NFL 20, FIFA 20, and The Sims 4, with their Stay Home, Play Together program.
“Our community is already showing what an amazing force we can be when we come together,” states the press release. “So our message is simple: Stay Home. Play Together. At a time where we need to stay physically apart, games can be a source of joy and connection. For many in our community, they already are – and we’re going to be highlighting that through the content we are creating and sharing.”
The next major event is a charity tournament for FIFA 20. The Stay and Play Cup will feature 20 clubs, including professional players, going head-to-head from April 15 – 19.
“We want to bring the global football community together with the FIFA 20 Stay and Play Cup, so millions of fans can experience the thrill of their favorite clubs and professional footballers playing — even when we have to be apart,” said Andrew Wilson, CEO of Electronic Arts. “As part of Stay Home, Play Together, we’re working to help people around the world find more ways to connect through play. Combined with relief contributions we are making, we hope to make a positive impact in people’s lives during this challenging time.”
Fans and viewers will be able to donate relief efforts to charitable organizations supporting COVID-19 relief. In addition, EA is donating $1 million to Global Giving’s Coronavirus Relief Fund.
Other EA events include new online tournaments for Apex Legends, and more The Sims 4 live streams with familiar content creators. You can see the full event schedule for details.
