Bandai Namco has released a remastered version of Japanese RPG Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch for PlayStation 4 and PC (Steam). The original game has also been ported to Switch, marking the series’ debut on a handheld platform.
Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch Remastered features updated HD visuals, including 1080p resolution and 60 frames per second. With a PlayStation 4 Pro, players can enjoy up to 4K resolution at 30 fps, or 1440p at 60 fps.
It’s important to note that while the game is also launching on Switch, the Switch version is not getting the remastered enhancements. Switch users can play the game at 720p resolution and 30 fps, but it is fully playable in handheld mode.
Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch was developed by Level-5 and released in 2013 as a PlayStation 3 exclusive. The JRPG was immediately striking for its partnership with world-renowned cinematic animation studio Studio Ghibli, and original soundtrack composed by Joe Hisaishi.
The story features a young boy being transported to a fantastical world, meeting friends and battling monsters as he works to save his mother. Wrath of the White Witch is actually a remake of the first game in the series, Dominion of the Dark Djinn, which released exclusively in Japan in 2010 on Nintendo DS.
Thanks to Wrath of the White Witch’s critical and commercial popularity (one of the best-selling games for the PlayStation 3), another game in the series, Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom, arrived on the US on PC and PlayStation 4 in 2018.
Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch Remastered is rated E10+ with Alcohol and Tobacco References, Fantasy Violence, Mild Language, and Gambling.
