As teased last week, Electronic Arts and DICE have officially revealed Battlefield V. It’s coming October 19 to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC (Origin).

Battlefield V is a return to the series’ roots as a World War 2 shooter. The new entry in the 15 year-old franchise will feature its signature large-scale 64-player multiplayer, new single player content called War Stories, and a cooperative mode called Combined Arms.

“Battlefield V is a homecoming for DICE as a studio—a return to the era that came to define the Battlefield franchise,” said Oskar Gabrielson, General Manager at DICE. “But as nostalgic as we are about World War 2, we wanted to challenge the preconception of the era with an unexpected portrayal of this familiar setting. Our vision with Battlefield V is to let players explore new and untold sides of the conflict that shaped the modern world. The scale of each battle and level of immersion is unlike anything we’ve done before in Battlefield and players are in for an epic journey.”

Players can form their own Company in multiplayer, and customize their soldiers’ weapons, vehicles, and style. The classic 64-player Conquest mode returns, and culminates in Grand Operations, a new live event in Tides of War.

Tides of War is what DICE is calling Battlefield V’s ongoing post-launch live services. Battlefield V will not have a premium pass. Instead all players will have access to all of the same maps and modes. Tides of War will feature themed experiences and events where players can unlock new rewards for their Company.

More details for Battlefield V, including the official reveal of Grand Operations, will be shown during the EA press conference at E3 2018 next month.

Battlefield V will be available worldwide October 19 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. It’s been rated M for Mature.
